Venezuela, Smugglers' Paradise

For The Correspondent I worked on this collaborative investigation between several international media, that won the prestigious Premio Gabo, the most important distinction for journalistic work in Spanish and Portugese.

  Goud uit Venezuela kun je zien als ‘conflictgoud’ dat gewapende groepen financiert, ontdekten we in het oerwoud van Venezuela. Toch stroomden duizenden kilo’s van dit goud de markt op via Aruba, Curaçao en Nederland, wat strijdig is met internationale afspraken voor de goudproductie waaraan Nederland zich heeft verbonden.
